Milford High School Senior Lincoln Perry, a.k.a Elcee, has spent his whole life making music, and since Sept. 20, his first album titled “L.C” debuted. With 11 songs and sitting at just around 40 minutes, Perry carefully put every detail into place.  “I really wanted this album to be a good representation of who I am ,and I think I have achieved that,” stated Perry.

Looking back at the first song on the album was written, which was the beginning stages of creativity (Jan, 2018),“GO!”. Previous songs had been written, but due to issues with technology, those songs were lost.

Perry states, “’GO!’ is about looking forward, it’s about looking at yourself from another point of view, and kinda saying, ‘yeah, alright I’m going to go with that;” That was the beginning of an 18-month journey made up of many late nights, emotions, and challenges to overcome.

The process of writing the music came pretty easily to Perry; by the end of the summer 2019, he had more than 100 beats, along with many others he had previously written throughout the years.

Some of his beats were inspired by musicians like Tyler the Creator and Brock Hampton, while others were more influenced by Rex Orange County and the Beatles. These artists also inspired him while he was writing lyrics. “The only thing I really wanted to achieve when writing was to capture feelings, and I feel that I accomplished that,” Perry said, such as with the lyrics, “Maybe time won’t mind if I die.”

With the creation of this album, the cover art, and the advertising finalized, it was now time for what Perry stated to be the scariest part: releasing it.

In the future, Perry plans to release individual songs and collaborations with other artists. He is also currently working on another album, but a concern that he has is that his growth wouldn’t be noticeable. “It’s weird coming off of the first album I’ve ever made, trying to go into straight into a second one, primarily just because I want there to be change, a noticeable difference between albums.”

While currently creating another album, Perry doesn’t want to just focus on music, though; he also wants to diversify himself into different digital medias, which includes music, but also art, photography, movies, and videos, along with a future creation of a clothing line.

Anyone can listen to L.C on all platforms, including Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and TikTok.
