Milford High School has Donated Hundreds of Jeans for the Homeless Adults and Teens in our Community.

With a high amount of homelessness in the community and surrounding areas Milford high school took part in a charity help raise clothes to keep the less fortunate warm in the cold winter. Orchestrating this charity drive is the work of two teachers at Milford High, Chemistry teacher Jennifer Hittle and Biology Teacher Robert Vosk along with the National Honors society.

The drive specifically asked for jeans but received all other sorts of clothing such as shoes, boots, shirts, hats, gloves and jackets. They were specifically asking for the jeans because of how durable and warm they can be and can last without being able to wash them daily. There was a lot of outside help from the community that have no relation to students at the high school, which goes to show how our community cares for others less fortunate.

Large clothing companies also like to help participate in events like these such as Hollister, Aeropostale and other large clothing businesses.

“Im proud of the Milford students for being so willing to help donate clothes to help those people in need of them during this winter.” says Jennifer Hittle. Milford Junior Jessie Niemiec heard about the drive and wanted to initiate starting it through Milford high school. According to Hittle, Jessie was a huge help to the drive and generously donated clothes from her own closet also. Hittle hopes to have the drive again next year with high expectations to continue helping those in need as considerably as they did this year.
