Three weeks from now, MHS Performing Arts will be bringing another entertaining yet poignant production to HVS.  The winter drama “Radium Girls” will be performed on Feb. 26 and 27 at 7 p.m.

The cast is smaller than the large scale musical that was put on earlier this fall. This means a brand new group of leads are ready for a brand new show.  So is the winter drama worth going out to see ?

“It will be an amazing experience for everyone,” said Director Megan Weeks.

Weeks talked about how the social injustice of the play also speaks to the current situation in Flint, which she hopes will speak to the audience. So what is the premise of this year’s winter drama?

“Radium Girls” is set in the year 1917. It covers the brave story of the girls who worked in the factories painting dials during World War I.  The play goes over the trials they faced after the discovery that the radium paint they’d been using was poisonous.  You’ll have to make it out to the play to find out what happened to the Radium Girls.

“I’m really excited to see it all come together, and how it will mesh,” said Lead Costume Designer Sammy Reed.

Reed talked about how interesting it will be to costume a show from this era.  The show is sure to be a very interesting story, and will be wonderfully produced by MHS Performing Arts. Lead actress Taylor Manley (Grace) seems eager to perform.

“It’s an incredible honor to be a lead,” said Manley. She said being a lead is one of the most thrilling and terrifying experiences you can have. She noted that this would be a great experience for her to grow as an actress and enjoy what she loves.

In a few short weeks, audiences will be able to come out and see “Radium Girls.” Tickets are available now here. Are you ready for these passionate actors to portray this gripping real story?
