Milford Students give input on upcoming Election

The 2016 presidential election has led to both excitement and worry as many Americans anticipate on voting for who should next live at the White House. However, in America all get a say in government by voting despite gender, ethnicity, religion…except for minors, of course. However, that  does not mean students do not have strong feelings on the upcoming election.

By far 2016 has been one of the most controversial elections in history. Grace Halsey who is a sophomore at Milford High describes her views being “mixed.” “Hillary is an absolute snake and Donald Trump thinks this country should be ran as a business,” Hasley boasted. Hasley then spoke of her Republican views and how it is similar to her family’s yet she still does not favor either nominee.

Nathan Grigereit is  passionate about politics and speaks commonly with family and friends about it as it is a topic of conversation in his household. He said his views are different  than those who raised him. “I am a strong Republican however, if I could vote, it would be third party. Even though minors can not vote they still have an impact on this election. Students can voice their opinion, represent a candidate and even campaign for them door to door,” Grigereit said.

It is very surprising how educated Milford High School students are informed and educated on the election despite being a young age, it not only shows intelligence but care for our country’s condition itself because the next president could change our country for the better or the worse.

A sophomore named Mike Smith thinks one candidate in particular would not benefit this country whatsoever, that candidate being Hillary Clinton.“Hillary blows” he then continues by saying “she should be in jail, not in power.” Although a large amount of people seem to disagree with Hillary’s views and he alleged email scandal she still has supporters including an anonymous junior.

“At this point I just want anyone but Trump, he is a joke.” she laughed.  It seems most students either way are not impressed with either candidates causing most students to have no opinion on the election. However third party supporters are growing in not only Milford High School but America itself.

Even though students at Milford are mostly minors they still have an opinion that can be expressed in abundance of ways because as future voters we will have a voice in government therefore keeping up with this year’s election could be helpful for when analyzing candidates in the future.
