Although several tragedies have followed up afterNorth Koreaplaced a nuclear bomb threat against the U.S, this is still an issue that needs to be handled. According to the CNN News, it’s an “inside game”. They believe thatNorth Koreasleader- Kim Jong Un- is just trying to consolidate his power becauseNorth Koreawas founded by his grandfather. They believe that it’s mainly a show for his “domestic audience”. “Because without the support of the military, he won’t be around for much longer. And so he has to bolster his support with the brass” says Jasper Kim from CNN News.
Basically Kim Jong Un is trying to make himself look powerful and bigger by making these threats. According to Matt Eggleston a social studies teacher atMilfordHigh School, “we are not going to strike first, but we will defendJapanandSouth Korea.” He says that militarily we are more prepared then ever before, ifKoreadoes follow through with their threat. We believe that the missiles they have cannot reach as far as we are because we are not very close toKorea. IfNorth Koreawas closer to the U.S the potential of the strike would be more alarming.
If North Korea did release the missile they would most likely shoot it towards the ocean to scare us. Which is what one student; Madison McCartney had heard and believed. McCartney claimed she wasn’t scared of the threat because she had hear it couldn’t go far enough to reach us. The president’s point of view is that we need to be patient,North Koreais making a statement to cause a scene. If North Korea wanted to bomb us, they would not be making their threat so public and loud. They are basically screaming for attention and want to be publicized.
This will not lead to a war withNorth Korea, according to Eggleston. The potential is there but It will not happen. The media is focused on new things everyday andNorth Koreasthreat is a bit sidetracked as of now. If the attack were to happen, we would be prepared.
