The Texas Rangers have won the 2023 World Series, the first time in franchise history. The Rangers entered the postseason as the 5th seed in the American League (AL), after losing the tie breaker for the AL West with the Houston Astros. The Rangers had to beat the Tampa Bay Rays, the Baltimore Orioles, the Houston Astros, all before defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks for their first World Series.
Corey Seager took home World Series Most Valuable Player, making MLB history. He became the first player to win World Series with a team in the AL and National League (NL). He had a World Series batting average of .286 and had 4 home runs. He had an overall strong postseason batting .318 with 6 home runs. He was joined by Adolis Garcia, and rookie sensations Josh Jung and Evan Carter in having strong playoff performances. Garcia and Carter shined specifically with Garcia batting .323, 8 homers, and a whooping 22 run batted in. Carter, only 21 years old, batted .300 with 9 doubles, making history throughout the postseason. Jordon Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi both pitched very well throughout the postseason and were reliable starters when called on throughout the postseason.
The Rangers made the postseason after spending 800 million dollars on player to totally rebuild their team, then at the trade deadline they dealt significant prospects in order to put themselves in the position to play in the World Series. The most impressive stat is that they managed to go 11-0 playing in road games, and playoff record.
With the MLB season officially over the offseason will quickly ramp up as teams try to follow the blueprint laid out by the Rangers to win a World Series of their own.
