Milford students show full support at district opener

Sydney Rice, Managing Editor

The Milford Varsity Volleyball team made their way to Walled Lake Northern High School for the MHSAA district opener game against Lakeland High School. The Eagles came back from a two set deficit. Milford took Lakeland to five sets, winning dominantly 25-14 and 25-19, but fell in the last three sets losing 23-25, 22-25, and 13-15.

The Lady Mavericks fought their hardest and improved greatly from their previous two encounters with the Lakeland team this season. The last two games ended in three sets once at South Lyon and once at Lakeland.

The district game was led by strong senior players Mya Zeese and Maddie Appleton. However, the volleyball team was not alone in the game. With an outstanding student section, attendance was high at Northern and there was a lot of support at the nail-biting game.

As the fall sport ends, Milford Volleyball leaves the season with a winning record and a positive legacy.
