Boys track team looks to rebound from 2015 season

..Although it’s been a slow start to spring and spring weather, the boys track team is out and getting ready for their season. They are looking forward to a good season and hope to compete inside the division.

After finishing last in the division last year, in their down year, they plan on making a strong push in the 2016 season. To do that, they’re going to have to rely on their new talent after losing 10 of their 20 top scorers from 2015.

They have plenty of talent this season and hope to take advantage of it. Some of their talent will be new, but most of it is returning. Some of the best athletes will be coming from the football team who are trying to make a switch into track and help their school out.

“We have a lot of boys out there. We think we will be better than last year. We just need to get the boys in shape,” Coach Gilbert said.

They will be led by the means of runners like Dakota Giles, David Bonhard, Dylan Allen, Luke Sakkinen, James Thomason, and many others.

They feel their best suited to compete in long distance runners. They will have runners from Cross Country who finished in 7th in states last year and can hopefully lead this team as well.

To be able to compete they are going to need to beat teams like Pinckney, Walled Lake Central, and Grand Blanc.

The boys have already started practicing and hope to be able to compete in the division this season. Possibilities of this team are high and they hope to capitalize on that.
