Saturday was another historic day for the Milford Cross Country program as the boys brought home the State Championship.

Head Coach Brian Salyers said it was a collective effort with each team member making a difference.

With such a performance, many individual runners had outstanding performances, including four athletes who received All-State Honors. Sophomore Brian Kettle, Junior Cody Snavely and Senior Paul Ausum were named to the boys team and Sophomore Rachel Barrett was named All State from the girls team. Salyers said he also expects many more athletes to be named All State Academic, but this has yet to be announced.

This was Milford’s third State Championship in the past decade with wins in 2003 and 2004.

It also marks the 18thTop Five finish at the State finals since 1980.

Salyers said he is extremely proud of the tradition that Former Athletic Director Gene Balawajder created and the current regime has been able to build upon.
