Milford Begins to Offer After School Writing Help

If your grammar worksheet doesn’t make sense to you, or your essay sounds completely off, try going after school to Mr.Hamilton’s or Mr.Laginess’ classroom every Monday and Wednesday.

Originally started at Lakeland, Milford now offers after school English help in room 305 with Mr.Laginess on Mondays, or in the publication room with Mr.Hamilton on Wednesdays. It lasts from around 2:15 – 3:15 pm, and all students with English related questions are invited.

Anything relating to English is fine to bring in for help, whether it be annotating a novel/essay, SAT preparation or even help on a college application essay. If you’re not sure if it’s something to bring in for help or not, try to anyways. The options are very open.

“It helped with my mechanics, grammar,” said senior Kirk Stults, “Things like that.”

The program offers one on one help with each student, allowing individualized help to better fit your needs. If you’re shy or too timid to ask a question in front of the class, this is a perfect opportunity to ask it and learn from it.

“I like working with people one on one,” said Mr.Hamilton,”I was a journalist for many years and I have experience with it.”

Other departments considered doing things similar to this as well, so other teachers may begin a similar program in their respective subjects also. If you think this is a good idea, try asking your teachers about doing something similar to the English program after school.

“I think it’s a great idea,” said sophomore Noah Poser. “Some students need extra help in a subject to clear up questions they could have.”

For more information, ask either Mr.Hamilton in the publications room or Mr.Laginess in room 305.
