Downtown Milford hosts three big annual Christmas holiday events at the end of November and beginning of December, including their “Big Reveal,” where the local town shops are decorated with wrapping paper and the kids can tear it off and reveal the Christmas decorations. Another event is the Christmas parade, which showcased many local businesses as well as several marching bands and a special appearance of Santa tailing the parade. Lastly, there is an open house where children can meet Santa and participate in fun events like horse-drawn carriage rides and caroling. These events occur every year, so make sure you catch them in future years. Don’t worry if you missed these events, because there are many other holiday events close by that run way later into the season that you and your family and friends may enjoy attending.
Holiday Nights – Greenfield Village – Dearborn
This event runs from December 4-7th, 12-14th, 16-23rd, and 26-28th. The events occur from 6:30-10 PM, with member-exclusive early entry at 6 PM. The experience consists of free carousel rides, ice skating and skate rental, historic Model T rides, horse-drawn wagon rides with live music, decorated homes and shops, people dressed up in period attire, carolers, fireworks, and many more fun activities. There are many food options and so many opportunities to make unforgettable memories. This event is a great mix of a historical and modern Christmas cheer that has something for every age.
Enchanted Cabin – Spicer’s Apple Orchard – Fenton
There is a fun family event where patrons can ride a train to either an enchanted cabin surrounded by twinkling lights in the woods, or to a gingerbread barn with a cool map that follows Santa’s travels that the kids are able to enjoy. Children also have the opportunity to meet Santa. Spicer’s also will have a tunnel of lights and festive decor. There are also opportunities to get cider and donuts, and there are fireplaces to warm up and make reindeer food. These spots book up quickly, so reservations are advised because walk-ins are not guaranteed.
Bosticks’ family MI Bright Lights — Camp Dearborn
This event runs from Nov. 14 to Dec. 30 and is open 6 to 10 PM daily. This is the only synchronized drive-through holiday wonderland in the area. Viewers can listen to holiday music on the radio while they drive through 250,000 twinkling lights dancing in sync. Every trip is unique, so you can come back multiple times and get a different experience with a different song and show. Tickets are available for purchase on the MI Bright Lights website.
Haunted Christmas – Rotten Manor – Holly
This event includes The Manor, The Forest, and The House of Wax. The event will be open December 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, with doors opening at 7 PM. If you like haunted attractions, this event will put a twist on Christmas and change normal holiday cheer into haunting fear and excitement.
Detroit Zoo’s ‘Wild Lights’ event – Royal Oak
This event takes place Nov. 22nd, 23rd, 28-30th, Dec: 5-7th, 11-23rd, 26-31st, and Jan: 2-4th. Fridays and Saturdays: 5–10:30 PM. All other days: 5–9 PM. With millions of LED lights and themed areas like the enchanted forest, the field of lights, and a camouflage art exhibit, there are more than 500 illuminated animal and nature-themed displays, as well as pop-up performances throughout the walking trail. Santa photos are available, as well as many seasonal drinks and food for purchase. Lastly, there is a 4D theatre show. This event is great for any outings with friends or family.
‘Magic of Lights’ – Pine Knob – Clarkston
This event from Nov. 21 to Jan. 3, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. It features a drive-through light display with more than two million LED lights, creating holiday scenes, massive displays, and light tunnels. Along the way, there are enchanting Reindeer Rest Stops, which give people a chance to get out of the car and explore the displays. ‘Winter Wizards’ – Glenlore Trails – Commerce
This unique holiday experience has an interactive forest journey where you become part of the story on a one mile hike. This event has many interactive light and sound exhibits, and there are special wands available for purchase at the beginning that add even more excitement by revealing hidden moments. Thursday to Sunday evenings, the forest comes to life in a spectacular display of light, sound, and wonder. New Year’s Eve event – Novella’s – Milford
The doors for this pizza event open at 6 PM, and starting at 8 PM, they have a New Year’s countdown along with photo backdrops, crafts and coloring, and bingo with prizes to win. During this event, the full menu is available for purchase. A deposit needs to be put down to save your spot for the event.
