Milford High Opportunities

A closer look into some of the unique experiences offered at Milford
Milford+High+Opportunities

Milford High School has many unique opportunities offered to students that you cannot get anywhere else. These opportunities are what sets Milford apart from other schools and why many open enroll at Milford just to get some of the experiences offered here. One prime example of this is the construction and automotive classes. Mr. Hincka is the teacher for these classes who instructs students on a variety of skills like how to weld, do small engine repairs, basic electrical work, build/patch drywall, etc. He teaches these skills either in the construction workshop or his main classroom which doubles as a car workshop. There are so many life skills learned in his classes, and many students find a lot of enjoyment in this hands-on experience.

Another thing that is quite remarkable about Milford is that there are 67 different sports teams offered, and 37 of those are at the varsity level. There are the more classic teams offered like cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, football, etc. However, Milford offers plenty of unique teams as well. These include a dance and pom team, an equestrian team, a bowling team, figure skating, gymnastics, and many others. These are just a few great examples of sports that not every school has that can really add some more fun to the high school experience.

One more great opportunity Milford offers is a variety of advanced placement (AP) classes. These classes are much harder and require a more rigorous work ethic, but students who take them in high school may save a lot of money later by earning college credit if a good score is received on the AP exam. Not only does Milford offer the classes to potentially earn college credit, there is also a high success rate of students achieving this. In the 2021-2022 school year, of the 349 students that took an AP class 69% of them earned college credit. That is a great number, considering on the AP program results for the 2022 year only 21.6% nationwide earned college credit. That means Milford got over double the national average!

Overall there are many different amazing opportunities offered at Milford whether it is dancing at a half-time show or learning how to fix an engine. There are endless experiences awaiting at Milford, take advantage of it while you can!
