For a staggering 16 years, flag crew has been a tradition and will continue to be one for the foreseeable future at Milford High. Every Friday before football games the Milford High Flag Crew hangs flags from their vehicles which spell out Milford.

They do this before the school day starts, leave them up throughout the school day, then convoy through downtown Milford and end up back at Milford High or at whichever school that the Milford football team is playing against. No matter how far away a game is, Flag Crew makes sure to be there to show the community’s support of the football team.

The Flag crew is made up of well known trucks and SUVs owned by students, as well as the notorious Mav Van, owned and operated by senior Preston Cole Paisley.

The Mav Van is a well known maroon Ford E-250 utility van that is passed down between seniors every year. It has stickers spelling out Milford, Mav Pack, and Mav Van to advertise Milford High school teams. With it being fitted with over 35 speakers as well, the Mav Van leads the Flag Crew as a recognizable icon of the school and is very hard to miss!

The M flag is flown by Jacob Chaplin, sporting a massive diesel Ford F-250 with “twin turbs”, nothing is able to stop the convoy for anything.

The I flag is flown by Kayla Pennebaker, in her father’s 2018 F-150.

The L flag is flown by Jake Mrofchak, in his Jeep Cherokee XJ.

The F flag is flown by Josh Wilber, in his Ford F-150.

The O flag is flown by Drew Hayes, in a variety of vehicular devices but mostly his 1987 1st Generation Toyota 4 Runner.

The R flag is flown by Elena Robertson, in her Jeep Wrangler.

The D flag is flown by Tyler Joseph Tori, in his 06 Yukon XL SLT.

Lastly, Eric Brakke who flies both the American flag and a “don’t tread on me” flag in his 2003 V6 Ford Mustang.

Every one of these trucks and SUVs are massive and as Chaplin says “more intimidating than seeing the police”.

This tradition is Milford specific, and is not presented at any other High School in Oakland county, and possibly even the whole state. This makes the small town school of Milford High stand out among all the other schools in the state.
