People may think that school pride is no big deal, but Milford High School students beg to differ. An abundance of upperclassmen represent their school, and the pride they take in it is outstanding. Every Friday night, the Milford football team has a game, whether it is home or away, many students still attend the game and cheer on their team.

Every football game, a group of upperclassmen drive vehicles with homemade flags, known as the flag crew,  being pulled from the back end that spell out MILFORD. Sydney Phipps, a senior student at Milford High School, and one of Milford’s MavPack leaders says that Kate Gillingham, Logan Rutter, Natalie Herrington, Leah Komos, Paulina Parr, Josh Bauer, and Robbie Bryant are all apart of the flag crew.

The Flag Crew meets in the old Farmer Jack parking lot that is near Taco Bell in Milford, where they prepare to get ready for the big game. “We stay in the parking lot for around 30 minutes putting the flags on the cars and jam out to music until everyone is ready to go to the game,” said Elise Carr, Milford Senior.

Phipps also says that Jake Herrington, Toby Ellis, Mitchell Hayes, and Nick Friedman all drive in the Mav Van, which is painted red and white and has the school name all around the van. The van has been used for 10 years and has been recently repainted red and white and has new decals spelling out Milford.

“The team this year seems like a whole different team compared to the previous years,” Phipps explained. “They are playing so well this season so far and all of the boys are playing their hearts out.”

Heading towacd58cffa-a007-476d-b967-28972d339d52rds the stands, the student section tries to get as hype as possible. Freshmen stand towards the top of the stands, then the Sophomores, the Juniors and Seniors get the front of the stands.

There is a group of seniors that hang out at the bottom of the stands and try to get some chants going, “I love starting chants for the student section,” said Carly Apple, another Mav Pack leader. “It is very fun to be wild and get the crowed as hype as possible.”

Elise explains how there has only been one tailgate so far out of the first four four Milford football games, and there are more tailgates to come.

According to the D zone, the Mavpack turned out to be 5th best student section in the state of Michigan. There was a Twitter competition between many different schools in the State. On Twitter, students could decide whether to retweet to vote for Milford´s student section. For Milford students, being a part of the Mav pride is something that everybody looks forward to.
