Yellows, blues, greens, floral – spring is on its way! With winter ending, and spring approaching, you better whip out the spring apparel! No worries, I will give you the do’s and don’ts of spring fashion – where to shop and what to buy. Winter is all about layering, and oddly enough although the sun is out during spring the temperatures are still a bit chilly. Layering is the number one trick to an A-style wardrobe for spring, when shopping it’s good to keep that in mind. Look for simple pieces rather than more complicated and “loud” pieces. Easy tanks or tees that can easily be put into any combinations of outfits are perfect for spring.
Jillian Scheib a senior atMilfordHigh School, explains her color arrangement as teals and army greens. “You can add brighter colors with pastel stuff” Scheib says when asked about color schemes. She explained bright colors as being a bit overrated and instead mixing them with darker deep hues to balance out the colors. The simpler your outfits are, the more you can accessorize which is a fun way to add spunk to simple outfits.
Scheib said the main stores she shops at are macy’s for free people clothing which is a bit on the expensive side, but also salvation army which is a thrift shop and you can find unique things that nobody else will have. Free people clothing is a type of brand of clothing that is sold at macy’s and they have loose, unique pieces that you couldn’t find anywhere else. The uniqueness of their clothing line makes the prices so high. In terms of accessories you can look for headbands and necklaces or earrings. Places like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe have a wide variety of accessories at low prices. The key to spring is having fun with color and patterns and mixing bright with darks, add a couple accessories and you’re set!
According to Seventeen Magazine, spring is a season to play with colors and mix and layer different patterns and shades. You can pretty much wear any color during the spring. It’s better to stay away from blacks and use more colors that bring out your skin tone. If you have a darker complexion, colors like yellows, corals, and light blues look really good against your skin. If you have a lighter complexion, colors like peach, light blues and reds or pinks that way your color doesn’t get drowned out by those bright colors. For thinner figures its good to wear clothing with more ruffles to make you look fuller. For full-figured figures stripes make you look a lot thinner and black slims you down as well, but make sure to mix blacks with brighter colors to keep it fresh and springy.
Styling yourself is easy to do as long as you follow these tips. Spring is a fun season to play with colors, accessories and patterns, as long as you know what colors to mix and what patterns to wear, you will be all set during spring.
