On Friday, Feb. 8, our boys and girls snowboarding teams competed in the State Meet, held this year at Alpine Valley. I was a rough start for the boys with not a single person making it out of the first round. However, the boys finished fourth as a team, even with the slow start.
Luck was different for the girls. Three out of the four competing made it past the first round. During the second round, the completion was very heated, with a two key girls taking terrible tumbles to knock them out of the race. Chloe George was leading her race in the second round and hit a patch of ice wrong; leaving her down in the middle of the track. Unfortunately another racer collided with Chloe’s head causing her to be out of the race and giving her a mild concussion. None of the other racers remaining made it any father.
Senior snowboarder Zack Huff had this to say about his team’s performance. “I feel we tried our best as a team, but fell short. I was glad to see our girls do so well.”
The day ended very quickly for ourMilfordathletes, but they were still in good spirits. No other racers were hurt, which all that matters is that they come back safe and sound.
Senior snowboarder Pearce Stevens had this to say about his last year of snowboarding. “I was really happy to qualify for states on my last year of this sport, and I was grateful to experience this with my seniors”.
Senior snowboarder Drew Burrow had some last comments on his senior season. “I was a blast the whole year and I wish I could do it all again”.
