On April 19th, the New York primary was held. The primary is considered to be one of the most important primaries held. The state is a key state for delegates, and it can change the course of the presidential nomination. There are 95 Republican delegates and 245 Democrat delegates.

This primary was different from the other primaries before it for the Republican party. John Kasich came second and Ted Cruz came third, which it is usually vise versa. While Trump was the clear winner of New York, John Kasich was able to get 25% of the Republican vote.

For the Democrats, Hillary Clinton came in first place with 58% of the vote. Bernie Sanders came in second place with 42% of the Democratic vote.

Hillary Clinton’s win of New York gave her a push towards have the 2,382 delegates need to win the party’s nomination. For Donald Trump the state gave him a small boost towards the 1,237 delegates needed for him to win the Republican party’s nomination.

Even though New York is considered a key state in the presidential race, there are still quite a few primaries left, so almost anything could happen during the last few months of the race.
