Why Christen Brandt’s Facebook post is going viral

It was your definition of a horrible morning for Christen Brandt, and no, she did not spill her coffee or step on a lego, but she had been publicly humiliated on subway when being catcalled by another rider.

Christen is a New Yorker, feminist and inspiration to many women without a voice. she is currently a co-founder and director of an organization called “She’s the First”, which not only communicates how women’s clothing is objectified in public, but also sponsors learning for girls in poorer countries.

Christen Brandt was walking to the 34th street subway when she heard a loud and obnoxious man make a comment about her legs. On her Facebook account, she quotes this man saying, “Damn, you have some great legs.” Christen Brandt politely ignored the man when he then said  “Did you hear me, honey? I said you have nice legs. Damn! Thank you.” This very sentence sent Christen off the edge as she later shared this information with the world wide web.

In this post, she describes the incident and went into detailed writing piece on how women are always sexually harassed even when wearing the simplest of clothing. She later goes on to say on her Facebook, “All women have these moments. All of us. And yet the world acts as if it’s still our problem to fix. Get your S*** together, guys.’’
